Last week the Chamber participated in the Reality Store. This is a great 4H program Carole Goodwin and Debbie Canavera coordinate for the 8th graders. A day long look at the type of careers and salaries in our job market. The children are assigned “married or not” and how many children are in their “family.” Some came up to my table with comments like I have 5 kids! It was a great experience seeing how the realities of having a pay check cover the cost of “I want “ verses “I can afford”, and seeing how well you can manage the money.
It was a lively crowd of great kids and I was proud to be a part of the teaching experience for the children. Chamber members, Brandenburg Telephone, First Federal Savings Bank, Meade County Health Dept., and the Meade County RECC were among the participants.
