The Meade County Fair, held during the last full week in July, is the single largest event that takes place in Meade County all year. , over 45,000 people attended from all over the region. Almost everybody in the community is involved in the fair in one way or another.

A Western Horse Show is the kick-off event for fair week. On the first Sunday of fair week, there’s a community worship service at the fairgrounds. After Sunday Services, typically 4,000 to 6,000 people line the streets for a parade in the afternoon.

The Meade County Fair is probably best-known for its truck and tractor pulls on opening Friday and Saturday night, respectively. The modern out-growth of the historic draft horse pulls, the tractor and truck event is formally titled the “Meade County Fair Grand National Pull” and draws spectators and participants from far and wide. Typically there will be anywhere from 8,000 to 12,000 people for each pulling event. The truck and tractor pulls are really something to see… and feel… it will vibrate your bones!
